The Behavioral Type of Interview
<
Wearing dress shirts, mens dress shirts, or the famous but expensive custom dress shirts for the gentlemen and skirt dress or pants for ladies does not guarantee that you will be accepted for the job after the interview (although this gives a good impression of you from the start of the interview process). Now comes the interview process, which will be the main dish to be served。 The moment you come in, just keep the good aura of you, to the answering and interacting to the questions thrown to you.
There are several ways how to conduct an interview. The most commonly practiced today by big companies, firm, and organization is the behavioral job interview or commonly termed as competency-based interview. This particular type of interview gauges your competence on how you as an interviewee answer every single question thrown. Usually, the interviewer asks the candidate on how to decide and act on some issues where they will face or has been faced before. The interviewee is being evaluated as to how they react on it.
The common questions that the interviewer asks are as follows:
- What will you do if you encounter a call from an irate client?
- What do you do if you receive a call complaining about something you are not aware of?
- Describe to me the event happened when you took a lead on a particular task. What did you do?
- Describe to me the worst project you have worked on?
- Describe your feelings when you had to work for someone you didn’t like?
Questions such as this will really make you feel nervous and often get mentally blocked. You even have the tendency to jump over the subject being asked when nervousness and uneasiness sets in. The best possible remedy for this is to remain calms, easy, and do not rush on answering questions. You are given usually about 2 minutes to answer the question. Organize your thoughts before answering, and always remain an eye contact and polite words such as “thank you” and “please” to the interviewer.
